Gianluigi Buffon believes Antonio Cassano can lead Italy to Euro 2012 glory

Friendly: Italy vs Spain: Antonio Cassano; Xabi Alonso

Juventus goalkeeper believes the playmaker is on the right track to being a success on a personal and team level.

Gianluigi Buffon feels Antonio Cassano has the potential to help Italy win Euro 2012.

The AC Milan forward wore the captain's armband in Italy's 2-1 friendly win over Spain on Wednesday in Bari and the Juventus goalkeeper believes the forward is good enough to lead his side to glory in Poland and Ukraine next year should it qualify for the tournament.

"Not even Cassano knows the value he brings to this team on the pitch and in the dressing room," Buffon told La Repubblica. "But to make a difference he has to love himself first and then present himself in great fashion for the European Championships and make us win it."

Italy is away to the Faroe Islands on September 2 as the team's qualifying campaign for Euro 2012 resumes.

Cesare Prandelli's men lead Group C and are five points ahead of Slovenia with a game in hand.
