The 21-year-old found first-team appearances hard to come by at Stamford Bridge last season, and was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers during the second half of the campaign.
And having experienced an excellent spell under Owen Coyle, followed by a preseason tour of Asia with the west London outfit, he now hopes to break into the starting line-up and eventually the England national team.
"These guys have worldwide recognition. Seeing them come to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong, and the rapport they have with fans, they are worshiped like gods," Sturridge said, according to The Sunday Mirror.
The young Englishman is hoping that a bright future lies ahead and that he can grow with the big London outfit.
"Hopefully, in a few years’ time, I can have some of that. I want to push myself in world football as far as I can and not just be content with playing in the Premier League. I want to be one of the biggest players around. I don’t want to be content with just being average. In a year’s time, I hope to be recognized as a better footballer, pushing towards the England squad. Now I just want to cement my place in the Chelsea team."
