The Premier League outfit faces Italian opposition in the playoff, while the 2010 finalist will have to deal with last season's Swiss Super League runner-up.
The draw for the 2011-12 UEFA Champions League playoff took place in Nyon on Friday and it has offered some interesting ties.
Premier League powerhouse Arsenal was dealt a tough draw as the Gunners were paired with Serie A representatives Udinese.
German giants Bayern Munich and La Liga side Villarreal will be quite pleased with their draws as they meet Zurich and Odense respectively.
Furthermore, Dutch runner-up Twente takes on Benfica, while Lyon faces tough Russian opposition in Rubin Kazan.
In the champions route, Malmo, which eliminated Rangers earlier this week, travels to Croatia for the tie with Dinamo Zagreb, whereas Genk faces Israeli opposition in Maccabi Haifa. FC Copenhagen, which made it to the round of 16 last year, was paired with Viktoria Plzen.
The first legs will be played on August 16/17, with the return matches taking place one week later on August 23/24.
