Petr Cech believes today's outing in Glasgow is a game against the right opposition at the right time.
With six matches already completed and plenty of action for most of the squad during those, the time has come to truly test fitness, and as he told Chelsea TV ahead of the game, Cech welcomes the challenge reigning Scottish champions Rangers will pose.
'It is a good pre-season game,' Cech said. 'They have already been playing [competitive fixtures] and they are supposedly much fitter than us.
'You can compare how far you are at this stage. It is only a week away from the beginning of the Premier League and we should be getting close to match fitness. I think seeing our last games, we are getting there.'
For the Chelsea Player of the Year, it was a slow start to pre-season as injury ruled him out of the early games but Cech returned to action in Thailand and has since played his part in the clean-sheet summer so far.
'We all enjoyed the fact that we kept winning the games in different circumstances,' he reports.
'In the pre-season you go to the games with fatigue and heavy legs and we won all the games and we haven't conceded a goal yet which is very positive. The heat [in Asia] made it more difficult because we are not used to such humidity and such a climate so it is much easier to breath when you come back, so I will say there are only positives.
'I was working on my fitness after the slight problem with my injury but I feel okay. I played the whole game against Aston Villa in pretty difficult conditions with the heat and the humidity and I feel fine. I am getting slowly and surely towards the start of the season perfectly fit.
'It is so far so good,' he continues. 'This is the way we wanted to start. We wanted to have good quality on the training ground and good quality on the pitch. This is what everybody needed when you start with the new boss. You want to start well to gain some time and have a positive mood around the camp and this is what we did.'
Watch the Rangers game in full on Chelsea TV and CTV Online from 5.15pm.
